Every year, September marks a special time at Security National Life as our company celebrates Founder’s Month. This month honors the legacy of service and dedication that have been the cornerstone of our company since its inception. Every year we set aside time to recognize Security National’s many years of excellence and to reward our agents by hosting Founder’s Month – our longest-running contest.
The early fall of 1965 found Security National celebrating its first full year in business. During that year, George Quist had added a number of new and enthusiastic agents to his firm, many of whom had left jobs in other industries that did not require them to “dress up” for work.
Noticing that many of these agents were wearing the same suit several times a week, George wanted to come up with a sales contest whereby these new agents could win some clothes that would be appropriate for selling in the insurance world. He developed a program that challenged these agents to help families and rewarded their performance; thus, Founder’s Month was born. Though we have moved on from giving away suits, our appreciation for our agents at Security National has remained the same!
It is a great opportunity for agents to reinforce relationships with clients, prospect additional leads, and to show potential clients you work for a company with a long history of helping families plan for the future.
Each division of Security National Life plays a different role in helping families plan for the future. As we celebrate Founder’s Month, we want to provide you with some tips so you can have the edge in this year’s contest and qualify for excellence.
Preneed Division
Our Preneed Division caters to pre-arranged funeral service plans where clients can plan and pay for their funeral arrangements in advance. This service alleviates the emotional and financial burden of funeral planning for loved ones during their time of grief.
Sales Tips for Preneed Agents:
Host Community Workshops: The majority of people have no idea what the benefits are of pre-planning funerals. Founder’s Month is a great time to hold informative workshops in conjunction with funeral homes that help teach families about the financial relief and peace of mind afforded by preneed insurance.
Utilize Testimonials:
Share stories through social media from families that have benefited from pre-planning. Real stories will encourage others to consider the importance of planning their funeral arrangements in advance.

Final Expense Division

Our Final Expense Division provides affordably priced life insurance to cover funeral and burial expenses. This kind of policy ensures that families will not be burdened with high bills at a time that is already filled with emotion.
Sales Tips for Final Expense Agents:
Go Door-to-Door: Visit communities whose members you can educate, such as seniors or those about to reach retirement age who may not have planned for funeral expenses. Explain how final expense insurance can prevent a family member from having to deal with additional financial stress.
Set a Higher Referral Goal: Challenge yourself this month to build your referral database by asking existing customers to refer friends or family in need of final expense protection.
Loyalty Sales Division
Our Loyalty Sales Divisions pairs final expense insurance with the Loyalty Family Support Plan. The Loyalty Family Support Plan, or LFSP, is a funeral concierge service that helps loved ones plan funeral expenses and arrangements. By selling these products, the agents at Loyalty Sales keep the customers away from financial troubles and make sure loved ones have additional support at the time of loss.
Sales Tips for Loyalty Sales Division:
Loyalty Family Support Plan: This is a great time to promote your Loyalty Family Support Plan on social media and in customer communications. Explain how this plan immediately assists the family with funeral preparations and key services that reduce stress and lighten very large financial burdens at just the time a family may need it.
Reconnect with Existing Clients: Call current active clients to introduce the Loyalty Family Support Plan to those who may not be aware of this added option. You can explain how the plan will complement their current final expense or life policy by affording them additional resources and practical support. You will be able to ask for referrals based on the positive experiences that they have had with your service.

Founder’s Month is the time to reflect on our company’s rich and long-standing history and values; it is also the perfect opportunity to go that extra mile and get rewarded. Whether you represent Preneed, Final Expenses, or Loyalty Sales, this can be a month that truly makes a difference for generations to come for the families you serve.
Let’s make this Founder’s Month one of growth, service, and success for you and your clients!
