The Legacy of Founder’s Month: Celebrating Security National’s Rich History

Each year, Security National takes time to celebrate Founder’s Month. Do you ever wonder why we hold this special contest? Let’s take you back to the very beginning…

In the early fall of 1966, Security National was abuzz with excitement as it celebrated its first full year in business. George Quist, the visionary behind the company, had spent the past year tirelessly building a team of dedicated and driven agents who shared his passion for helping families secure their future. Many of these agents had left behind careers in other industries that didn’t require them to “dress up” for work. In their previous roles, a suit was an exception, not the norm.

As George observed his new recruits, he couldn’t help but notice that some of them were wearing the same suits multiple times a week. While this might have gone unnoticed in their previous jobs, George knew that the insurance business required a polished and professional appearance. He recognized that his agents needed suitable attire to make a strong impression on their clients and prospects.

Inspired by this realization, George Quist decided to launch a sales contest that would not only motivate his agents but also provide them with the attire necessary for success in the insurance industry. This contest would be the beginning of something special, something that would become a cherished tradition at Security National—Founder’s Month.

Founder’s Month was George’s way of showing appreciation for his agents’ hard work and dedication. It was a time to reward them based on their performance, their ability to help families secure their futures, and their commitment to the company’s values. In those early days, the reward for high-performing agents was a high-quality suit—something that would not only bolster their confidence but also enhance their professionalism.

As the years went by, Founder’s Month evolved. While the tradition of awarding suits gradually faded away, the spirit of appreciation and recognition for Security National’s agents remained steadfast. Founder’s Month continued to serve as a testament to the company’s commitment to its agents, acknowledging their pivotal role in the organization’s success.

Fast forward to 2023, and Founder’s Month has become a cherished annual event at Security National. It’s a time when the company celebrates its rich history, its commitment to excellence, and the incredible individuals who have dedicated themselves to helping families protect their futures.

This year, Founder’s Month runs from September 18 to October 20, offering a range of exciting contests and rewards for select Security National agents in participating regions. It’s a time for agents to showcase their skills, continue the legacy of George Quist, and earn well-deserved recognition for their contributions.

So, if you’re a Security National agent in one of the participating regions, make sure to visit your Agent Portal for more information about this year’s Founder’s Month contest. It’s an opportunity to honor the past while shaping the future, just as George Quist envisioned all those years ago.
