Salt Lake City, Utah, June 5, 2013 – Memorial Estates, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Security National Financial Corporation (NASDAQ Symbol “SNFCA”), announced that over 100,000 people attended the Memorial Day festivities that were held at each of its six wholly owned nondenominational cemeteries. Various activities, including performances by community bands and bagpipers, and barbeques took place at the cemeteries. Memorial Estates has a tradition of holding Memorial Day festivities that commemorate the lives of deceased loved ones and those who served our country in the armed forces. In addition to the Memorial Day celebrations, Memorial Estates holds events at its cemeteries during the year to benefit different charities.

Beginning in 1960, Memorial Estates began offering estate planning from its first cemetery located on Redwood Road in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since then, it has grown to six cemeteries and eight mortuaries located in the states of Utah and California. The Memorial Day festivities have grown over the years to encompass not just a celebration of our armed forces but also ancestors in general. Through the years, there has been an increase in family reunions and other family activities held at Memorial Estates’ cemeteries.

Mr. G. Robert Quist, Vice President and Cemetery Sales Director of Memorial Estates, stated: “Memorial Estates has recently experienced significant growth in its preneed cemetery and funeral products. Its cemeteries have also received beautification awards. I am extremely optimistic about the future growth of Memorial Estates’ cemetery and mortuary operations. We look forward to continuing to increase our market share in the cemetery and funeral markets where we presently do business.”
