In the early stages of Hernan Dacaret-Dac’s career as an agent, he faced formidable challenges that tested his resolve and determination. However, through strategic shifts and a commitment to understanding his client’s needs, Dac not only overcame obstacles but also transformed his approach to sales to find agent success. Join us as we delve into Dac’s remarkable journey, exploring the pivotal moments that shaped his career and the valuable lessons he learned to find agent success.

In the early days of my career as a preplanning agent, I found myself at a crossroads. Within just two months, I was facing a lot of setbacks. The appointments I had carefully set up were mostly falling apart—postponed, canceled, or met with no response. The few that did take place didn’t lead to any real success. Doubts started to creep in, making me question my choice to become an agent. That’s when I decided to give it one more solid try.

I went with my manager to an appointment I had arranged for a file review. Despite our best efforts, the client wasn’t on board with planning her funeral services just yet. As we left and stepped into the intense Las Vegas heat, I shared my worries with my manager. He understood the urgency and led me to his car. He grabbed a personal planning guide, took off his tie, rolled up his sleeves, and gestured for me to do the same. His actions were clear—it was time to get real and try a more personal touch.

Shift in Strategy: Door-to-Door Outreach

We started going door-to-door in the mobile home park. My first attempt was shy and brief, ending with the door closing quickly. But then, I watched my manager talk to the next homeowner. His enthusiasm, confidence, and knowledge set the tone for a meaningful interaction.

Taking a cue from him, I approached the next home differently. The heat was intense, and sweat was dripping down my face. Trying to lighten the mood, I half-jokingly pleaded for water as I introduced myself. Surprisingly, the homeowner invited us in for a glass of water to talk more about what we were offering.

Inside, his wife, overhearing our conversation, joined us. She was straightforward, knew what she wanted, and was ready to make her funeral arrangements right then and there. I quickly got all the paperwork from the car and secured her funeral arrangements with our services. Over the next few months, I protected her husband and continued my efforts in the community, successfully protecting many more through pre-planning.

Reflecting on this experience, I realized how it reshaped my career. It taught me the value of persistence, the power of a personal connection, and the need to adapt your approach when faced with challenges. It was more than making a sale; it was about truly understanding and addressing each individual’s needs, one door at a time.

Understanding Needs: Stepping Beyond Comfort Zones

This journey also marked a significant personal transformation. Stepping out of my comfort zone and taking on challenging roles changed my mindset and approach. It wasn’t merely the act of going door to door; it was about opening myself up to diverse interactions, each teaching me something new and building my confidence. This journey proved that skill development and self-assurance stem from varied experiences and challenges faced head-on. Moreover, the value of helping others, whether colleagues or clients, became a core part of my philosophy, reinforcing that success in this field is as much about the relationships you build as it is about the individual wins you secure.

As Hernan Dacaret-Dac’s story demonstrates, agent success is not merely measured by sales figures but by the depth of connections forged and the impact made on clients’ lives. By following his example of perseverance, adaptability, and genuine care for the individuals he serves, aspiring agents can navigate challenges with confidence and achieve their version of success. As we continue to celebrate Hernan’s journey, let us also embrace the principles that define his success, empowering ourselves to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve, thus embodying the true essence of agent success.
